Things I’m Savoring in March

If you regularly follow FabYOUlous Life, you know that my “word of the year” for 2016 is savor. If you are new to FabYOUlous Life, welcome! You can read about how and why I selected savor as my word by clicking here.

Because savor is my word, I’ve decided that I am going to post every month about some of the things, people, experiences etc. that I am savoring at that moment. I am hoping that these monthly posts will serve two purposes: 1.) to help me to slow down and think about the incredible, savor-worthy things that are happening in my life and 2.) to inspire you to do the same.

As I look back over my month so far, I have to say–it has been one outrageously incredible month. I mean–how often is it that one gets to enjoy a full week in Hawaii with family and NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR IT? Yep–you read that last part correctly…I just returned from spending a week in Hawaii (the island of Oahu to be exact) with my family because I won a national sweepstakes that paid for our trip. The prize included airfare, hotel accommodations for all of us, a dolphin swim excursion, sunset jazz cruise, Island bus tour, Lei greeting and a spectacular Luau (plus spending money, rental car and restaurant gift cards!) We were truly blessed to have won this once in a lifetime experience and I now have memories that I will savor for the rest of my days. Here are just a few of those savorable moments…

They Like Me, They Really Like Me–and Now I’m Sharing the Love

liebster2Ha Ha Ha! Okay–This is not 1985, I’m not Sally Field and I am not accepting an Academy Award (if you are too young to remember Sally’s “you like me, you really like me” acceptance speech–I don’t want to hear about it.)

I am however ridiculously excited to announce that FabYOUlous Life has been awarded the Liebster Award for new blogs. I am so grateful and humble to have been nominated by Sheena at Pop Goes Perfection. Please take a few minutes to go check out her amazing site–I especially like her product reviews.

Jenga With a Twist

You know you wanna playMaking your own Jenga with a Twist game couldn’t be easier. All you need is one Jenga set, some Modge Podge, scissors, a sponge applicator (to brush on the Modge Podge) and the free, pre-made printable that you can download by clicking here. I’m including the link for Drunken Jenga at the bottom of the post because I don’t want you to get the two mixed up–our goal here is family fun, NOT contributing to the delinquency of minors. 😉

Once you have printed your download, all you have to do is cut out each of the twist pieces and use the Modge Podge to affix them (one per block) to every Jenga block except two. There will be two blank blocks in the game–which just means that no extra twist is added to those turns.

This really is a fun, family friendly game that even my uber-cool, nearly grown, young adult children didn’t think was cheesy (and they think pretty much everything is cheesy so…) We’ve played it several times and always have lots of fun because different people pick different blocks each time therefore the game never gets stale. Best of all, the assembly is super-simple so you can make and play it all in the same day–just make sure that you allow enough time for the Modge Podge to dry.

C'mon...You Know You Wanna Play

Drunken JengaIf you liked our Jenga with a Twist game but thought that you’d like to take it up a notch, you’ve come to the right place!

Making your own Drunken Jenga game couldn’t be easier. All you need is one Jenga set, some Modge Podge, scissors, a sponge applicator (to brush on the Modge Podge) and the free, pre-made printable that you can download by clicking here.

This game makes for a FabYOUlously fun night of grown up shenanigans but please play responsibly! This game is only for people who are of legal drinking age and who will NOT be driving after playing (nothing sucks the fun out of an evening more than a DUI–or worse!)
